The Knot was a collaborative performance conceived with the intention of bringing five women together. This performance entailed the braiding of the five women's hair into one collective braid between four of them, while the fifth served as the facilitator for the exchange. Hair can be a symbol of strength, identity, and beauty. By combining the hair between four women, the goal is to convey a sense of mental and physical unity. Through this act, these women were bound together and therefore forced to function as one body. They were challenged to move and make decisions no longer as individuals but as a collective entity. It was through this new intimate relationship that they transformed from many women into one.
